I can’t find the artist of the reference painting I used to draw this.  I’m collaborating on a graphic biography of the French feminist Suzanne Voilquin, and the author wants the first page to start with a feeling of excitement and change.  A guillotine definitely conveys that, especially for 19th century France.  We’re not going to use this image, but it was good practice for me.  If anyone knows the artist of the original painting, please let me know!
