I love the green triangle in Silverlake*. It’s a small park that makes me feel safe, anonymous, and partially secluded. On weekdays some people play basketball in the center while others sit underneath green umbrellas and edit scripts on their white computers. I come here often but not enough.
Image Text: I love Saturdays at the Silverlake Farmers’ Market:
Guitarists, violinists and drummers sing to their instruments and to the growing crowds that disperse and regroup.
Vendors enthusiastically announce their products in a rhythm. They are chanting.
Women and men interact with their dogs, and dogs interact with each other.
Proactive advocates stand both awkward and inviting. They seem certain of their causes, but doubtful of the people.
Couples and women and men in their workout outfits (perhaps they’ve just biked* 10 miles) peruse* the produce tables, discussing eggplant and lettuce.
Fruits, vegetables and roots tumble into and out of miniature statues, clumsily dancing as different inspecting fingers take them away and move them aside.

Revised Text 11/13/12
The farmers market smells like sage.
Wandering crowds disperse and regroup, listening to the sounds of guitarists, violinists, and drummers who sing to their instruments and glance at their tip jars.
Vendors enthusiastically announce their products in a rhythm. They are chanting.
Proactive advocates with clipboards and matching
t-shirts stand both awkward and inviting. They seem certain of their causes, but doubtful of the people.
Couples in their workout outfits (perhaps they have just biked 10 miles) peruse the produce tables, discussing eggplant and lettuce.
Fruits, vegetables and roots tumble into and out of miniature statues, clumsily dancing as different inspecting fingers take them away and move them aside.
Dogs and curious toddlers survey table clothes and the lower halves of people’s bodies, enjoying another world from the ground.
Loved this one, with long the perspective and text like a poem.
Another comment used the word “lornatized.” Love it. Silverlake and these two strollers have been lornatized. Do you just do places and yourself?
I do what I see 🙂
Vendor rhythm in full effect, good call.
Does the ground really have those circles, or did you add that?
Your work is getting better and better. I love this post!
Thank you so much!
