I’m getting back into drawing on larger canvases in Photoshop. This self portrait is 16 x 20 inches. Recently my default is 8.5 x 11 inches, especially for Affect. I’m enjoying the space, again. The larger canvas allowed more room for nuance. I had some brush/fill issues, but decided that I liked the outline enough. The lines were enough fill.
I think about chins a lot. Literal and figurative chins. They’re ripe, pregnant, blossoming with analogy and shape.
I liked the drawing and “Chin up” text by itself, but I added the “Affect” comic format to make sure I’m developing that world. I like the comic structure I get to play with in Affect. I like its context and narrative cue.
I’m not sure if, “Though, I’ve read selfies are best taken with the chin down” is necessary text. I’d love for that addition to be either elucidating or complicating. Ooo, I’d love for it to be anything! What do you think?

I post twice a week in two sorts of ways: In the beginning of the week, I share new art/discussions about the process of works in progress. Around Friday I post segments with Comic Lorna in my audiobio comic series called, Affect.
