“My solo show opened at Opodz in Little Tokyo last Saturday. I had made the price list/art info in the classic list form, and had written the exhibition description and my bio in third person. The night before the show opened, I decided to turn the list into a zine and my person into first. Thank goodness.
“PHASES and FACES explores asymmetry, community, process/creation, feminism, identity, and memory. It’s a remix of my past five years as an artist, though much more organized. It’s complete in omission and re-imagination.
“The art travels between my time with pencil and stylus, phone and paintbrush. I like to play with perception, perspective, portraits, places, and expectations. My art helps me study the world around me.
“I’m taking notes and doodling in the margins. Trying to understand. Trying to present the evidence without telling a story. Stories have endings. I don’t know about endings. Just phases and faces and places.
“I’m going to cringe reading this in a year.”

I’ll post a recap of the opening event of Phases and Faces soon with pictures and reflections. So much reflecting.
I just found out that the Music Tastes Good festival in Long Beach in September approved my art installation proposal. So that’ll be fun. More to come!

I update my Exhibition Page with events and galleries Lorna Alkana Art is featured in.
I post twice a week in two sorts of ways: In the beginning of the week, I share new art/discussions about the process of works in progress. Around Friday I post segments with Comic Lorna in my audiobio comic series called, Affect.
