Sunstock Solar Festival

Oh!  I am so excited about this festival.  I’m still in the planning process for my installation.  It focuses on inviting people to engage with 6′ x 5′ frames that are organized for 360 degrees of art.  Some of the frames have portraits of empowered people of different shapes and sizes, actual eco light bulbs glowing above their heads.  Other frames have space for people to write and draw pictures.  They will all be illuminated.  Maybe some glow in the dark/black light action.  The future is bright.

The frames have a lot of negative space, so the solar trailer  becomes a part of the art, and different frames are visible through one another.  It’s a field of photo booths.
The artist Rachel Oto has joined the team and will rig up her Renewable Blooms.  She is on tour right now, but will be back at the end of the month to get planning and building.
Another artist, Ben Koffman, has come aboard to add visual projections onto the frames and trailer.  He’s also quite a carpenter.
I’ll post updates of my design on the blog as it goes.
Here’s a few photos of me trying to visualize the space using 8″x10″ picture frames…

Check out the event!
